For people who may benefit from intensive, structured, and therapeutic care but are stable enough to live at home while receiving treatment, Windmoor Healthcare provides two outpatient programs that can help them learn to cope with a psychiatric disorder, substance abuse, or both (dual diagnosis). Either program can serve as an alternative or step-down from inpatient treatment.

Our partial hospitalization program (PHP) and intensive outpatient program (IOP) offer individual and group therapy and medication management. Both programs provide the same treatment methods but take place at different frequencies.

Our multidisciplinary staff provides individualized treatment so patients can improve their self-awareness, self-expression, problem solving, and coping skills. Patients can participate in a PHP or IOP while still under the care of a private physician. The program is designed to prevent relapse and rehospitalization.

IOP sessions are held three times a week. PHP takes place five times a week for patients whose conditions are more severe. Patients in both programs participate in the same sessions with the only difference being how often they are in attendance.
